Forbes magazine’s new annual list of the 400 wealthiest Americans includes 35 Floridians, all but eight of them with residences in Miami-Dade Broward and Palm Beach counties.

The town of Palm Beach alone is home to 10 of the 35 wealthiest Floridians, including the richest among them, Thomas Peterffy, a self-made billionaire who runs securities brokerage Interactive Brokers Group.

Altogether, 17 of the wealthiest Floridians reside in Palm Beach County in such cities as Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Manalapan and North Palm Beach as well as the town of Palm Beach.

Forbes also reports that Miami-Dade, the state’s most populous county, is home to five of the wealthiest Floridians, including Jorge Perez, CEO of Miami-based Related Group.

Two of the wealthiest Floridians have a principal residence in Broward County, and one resides in Monroe County.

Among the wealthiest Floridians who reside outside the state’s southeastern corner, three reside in Naples, two in Tampa, and one each in Bonita Springs, Hobe Sound, Islamorado and Lighthouse Point. [Florida Trend] — Mike Seemuth
