Crossman & Company opened its first Miami office last week in Coral Gables after doing business in the county for more than 15 years.

The company, which focuses on retail leasing, property management and investment sales of retail properties, handles more than 20 shopping centers in Miami-Dade, John Crossman, president, told The Real Deal.

“We’ve been doing investment sales down here for a long time,” Crossman said. “We finally have enough of a portfolio that it makes sense [to open an office].”

Crossman, who is based in Orlando, has two people working out of its Coral Gables office at 901 Ponce de Leon Boulevard. The company, which has an office in Boca Raton, chose Coral Gables over submarkets like Brickell because its staff is in and out of the office on a frequent basis, Crossman said.

“We are excited about our growth and look forward to meeting clients’ requirements with a stronger local presence in the Miami-Dade area,” COO John Zielinski said in a press release. “The tourist dollars pouring into Miami, as well as robust regional demographics, make retail strong.”

In Miami-Dade, Crossman handles the leasing for a number of Publix-anchored retail centers, including in Miami Beach, Cutler Bay, Homestead and Doral. It’s also active in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina.
