A Venetian-style bayfront estate in Coconut Grove is heading to the auction block on May 18.

The 9,947-square-foot mansion, with 30-foot vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows and Jerusalem stone floors with Palladian designs will be open to live bidders for a minimum bid price of $5.6 million after being on the market for $7.9 million.

“It’s just like a house on the grand canal in Venice,” Schrager told The Real Deal. The property includes a keystone swimming pool, large stone fireplace, gourmet chef’s kitchen with La Cornue, Sub-Zero and Miele appliances, an art studio and library tower and high-end finishes, according to a press release. It also features at least $1 million worth of stonework around the windows, Schrager said.

Property records show the owners are Richard and Cristina Daniels, who paid $750,000 for the plot in 2000. They custom-built the three-story home in 2009 on a 11,851-square-foot lot. Schrager said the home was “much too big for them” and that they have already moved out. The fourth floor is a rooftop deck, she said.

Bidders are required to pre-register two days prior to the on-site auction.

Several high-end South Florida homes have hit the auction block recently, including a 1930s-era home on Miami Beach’s ritzy Pine Tree Drive, set to be auctioned on Monday; an oceanfront estate in Vero Beach earlier this month; and a 1937 Miami Beach home owned by a Miami Beach developer was auctioned on Friday with a reserve of $3.9 million.
