Hallandale Beach city commissioners voted to approve a $250 million mixed-use development on 10 acres east of Gulfstream Park along Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

Commissioner Keith London, the sole dissenter in the 4-1 vote, said he voted against the development, called Hallandale Oasis, because of the extra traffic it would bring to congested Hallandale Beach
Boulevard.

Romagnole Investment Properties, the developer, plans to build a hotel, an office complex, and a condominium on the 10-acre site, now occupied by a bank and other commercial properties that would be demolished.

Steve Geller, an attorney representing Romagnole, said the company could start construction of the first of two 26-story condominium buildings in nine months.

Hallandale Oasis, designed to  include 500 condos and 200 hotel rooms, could take five years to build, Geller said. [Sun-Sentinel] — Mike Seemuth
