After opening the sold-out SLS Brickell condo and hotel project, developer Jorge Perez and hospitality executive Sam Nazarian are collaborating again on two resort developments in Mexico.

Related Group, led by Perez, and Nazarian’s Los Angeles-based lifestyle hospitality company sbe have announced plans for two mixed-use projects in Mexico called SLS Zihuatanejo and SLS Cancún.

“Jorge is a key partner for me and sbe, and I am thrilled to enter the Mexican market in partnership with him and his company,” Nazarian, founder and chief executive officer of sbe, said in a written statement. “Bringing the SLS brand to Mexico is another major milestone for sbe.”

Piero Lissoni will design the developments, each a mix of homes and hotel rooms.

Located on the Pacific shoreline, SLS Zihuatanejo is renowned for such outdoor recreation options as golf, tennis, fishing, snorkeling and diving. The first phase of SLS Zihuatanejo will include 62 lots for single-family homes and a 40-room hotel managed by sbe. Sales for the first phase started in September. Subsequent phases are planned.

SLS Cancún is a mixed-use project with a first phase consisting of 120 condos and 67 sbe-managed hotel rooms. Sales for this first phase began  in December with subsequent phases in planning.

Related Group first entered the Mexico market with its delivery of Icon Vallarta in 2010.
