Accounting giant KPMG may build an 800,000-square-foot training center at the Lake Nona community in Orlando.

Lake Nona is a mixed-use planned community located just southeast of Orlando International Airport. The training center for KPMG employees and partners would have 800 lodging rooms and 350,000 square feet of space for training and conferences. It would cost $430 million to build and equip.

Tim Connolly, a KPMG spokesman, confirmed in an email exchange with the Orlando Business Journal that “we are in discussions about a parcel of land in Lake Nona, as well as other locations, but at this time we have nothing to announce.”

The Orlando Business Journal also reported that KPMG would build the training and lodging complex on Lake Nona Boulevard in the booming Lake Nona community, where the U.S. Tennis Association National Campus is scheduled to open next month.

KPMG is seeking incentives from the city and the state to build the Lake Nona training center with 80 employees whose annual salaries average $66,098.

KPMG is seeking state and city approval of a tax benefit totaling $320,000 for creating those 80 jobs. The audit and tax services firm also could get more than $3.5 million in property tax rebates over a seven-year period.

An estimated 48,000 KPMG employees per year would visit the training center. [Orlando Business Journal] Mike Seemuth
