Some of Miami’s biggest developers made donations last month to city of Miami candidates running for commissioner and mayoral seats in the November election.

Companies tied to the Related Group, Manuel Grosskopf, Oleta Partners, Tate Management, the Treo Group, Shahab Karmely, Flagstone Island Gardens, Jeff Berkowitz, Adler Group, Craig Robins and Turnberry Development all made donations to the candidates, the Miami Herald reported.

The candidates include Miami commissioner Francis Suarez, who’s running for mayor; a new new political committee aimed at supporting commissioner Frank Carollo if he decides to challenge Suarez; Miami commissioner Keon Hardemon, Miami commission candidates Zoraida Barreiro and Joe Carollo, as well as others.

Affiliates of Related gave a combined $14,000 to political committees and candidates last month, according to the Herald. The developer is busy in the city of Miami, with projects in Brickell, Edgewater, Midtown Miami and Coconut Grove.

Oleta Partners, a partnership between LeFrak and Turnberry Associates, gave $10,000. The partnership plans to build SoLe Mia, a $4 billion mixed-use, multi-phased project on the 183-acre North Miami site on Biscayne Boulevard and 151st Street.

Karmely, who is developing One River Point along the Miami River, gave $3,000 to Hardemon, the incumbent District 5 commissioner, who’s currently running unchallenged. [Miami Herald] – Katherine Kallergis
