WeWork hired Spotify and Yahoo veteran Laurent Paris as its first-ever chief technology officer.

Paris, who most recently served as vice president of engineering at music streaming company Spotify, plans to assemble an engineering team over the next 12 months to bring new technologies into WeWork’s office spaces, TechCrunch reported.

Paris told TechCrunch that one of the things he will be working on is bringing “sensors into the management of the space to get data on how people interact in their offices and tailor that experience.”

The Real Deal reported last year that WeWork plans to use beacon technology and heat maps to track its customers.

The hiring of Paris comes four months after WeWork shook up its corporate structure and hired executives to head its co-living and co-working divisions.  [TechCrunch]Konrad Putzier
