Alvarez-Diaz & Villalón does design work for two new hotels in Puerto Rico

Alvarez-Diaz & Villalón, with offices in the Miami area and San Juan, is handling the design of two hotels that will be built in Isla Verde in Puerto Rico.

The new hotels will be part of a development in Isla Verde called the ESJ Collection Resort, which will also will include a renovated hotel.

Construction of Hotel Verde, the first of the two new hotels, has started and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2018. The 10-story development is the first new hotel built in Isla Verde in 25 years.

Alvarez-Diaz & Villalón is now designing the Hotel Noir, the second new hotel planned for the ESJ Collection Resort. The design firm is headed by a husband-and-wife team, architect Ricardo Alvarez-Díaz and interior designer Cristina Villalón.

The Hotel Verde will feature an 8,020-square-foot terrace on the ninth floor with a bar area, swimming pool, gym and event space. The 107-room hotel will have 71 studio units, 29 one-bedroom units and seven two-bedroom suites.

The environmentally friendly design of the Hotel Verde includes recycled material textiles and carpets, high-efficiency plumbing fixtures and low-consumption LED lighting fixtures.
