The city zoning board approved Mizner 200, a downsized condominium development in downtown Boca Raton.

The developer, Coral Springs-based El-ad National Properties LLC, is now one step closer to city approval of Mizner 200.

El-ad National Properties cut the number of condo buildings to three, their height to nine stories and the total number of units to 384. The developer also redesigned the Mizner 200 project with wider, pedestrian-friendly sidewalks.

The developer initially designed Mizner 200 with 500 units in four buildings that would have been 23 to 30 stories tall. Architecture firm Garcia Stromberg did the redesign of Mizner 200.

The nine-acre development site is located at 200 Southeast Mizner Boulevard in Boca Raton, which is now occupied by a townhouses spread over 18 three-story buildings.

If approved by the Boca Raton City Council, Mizner 200 would replace the  246-unit townhouse development, called Mizner on the Green. [Sun-Sentinel] Mike Seemuth
