Straub allegedly filed fraudulent construction liens on two Palm Beach County properties owned by an ex-girlfriend

Glenn Straub, a real estate developer based in Wellington, is under investigation by the Broward County State Attorney’s office, according to GossipExtra.

Straub allegedly filed fraudulent construction liens on two Palm Beach County properties that include a townhouse and ranch owned by Jessica Nicodemo his ex-girlfriend.

The case was referred to Broward after Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg recused himself for being friends with the developer, according to GossipExtra.

The liens were filed last year by Straub’s land company, and claim Nicodemo’s ranch owes $64,400 worth of road and fencing work, and $12,720 in unpaid work on the pool and patio of Nicodemo’s townhouse. The total amounts to $77,120 in unpaid work. Straub is currently trying to foreclose on the liens and take the properties, according to GossipExtra.

In the court records Nicodemo said she did not expect to be charged. According to her, she and Straub were together at the time when construction began, GossipExtra reported.

Straub has faced legal troubles before. In 2013 he faced allegations that are now dropped, for battery and improperly bulldozing and filling in wetlands.

He notably sold the former Miami Arena in downtown Miami for $35 million in 2012, and in 2016 paid $82 million for the former Revel hotel, which cost more than $2 billion to build. He’s also the developer of Wellington’s Palm Beach Polo & Country Club. [GossipExtra] Amanda Rabines
