Randall Whitman, an owner of Bal Harbour Shops, just sold his Coral Gables home for $5.93 million.

Property records show Whitman sold the nearly 8,000-square-foot house at 4845 Hammock Lane to Laurence Assayag. It’s in the gated Hammock Lake neighborhood near Matheson Hammock Park.

Whitman oversees the Miami Beach-based real estate firm’s strategic planning as chairman of Whitman Family Development, according to its website. He paid $875,000 for the Gables property in 1998 and built the two-story, seven-bedroom home in 2002. “It has that old Florida style with big porches that wrap around,” said Coldwell Banker’s Jill Hertzberg of the Jills.

The lakefront house features an infinity pool, an outdoor bar and firepit, a gourmet kitchen, master suite with an office and a detached guest house, according to the listing. It officially hit the market about a week ago at $6.3 million with Hertzberg. EWM represented the buyer, according to Realtor.com.

“The first offer was good and so they accepted it,” Hertzberg said. Whitman and his wife decided to sell now that their children are grown. Records show the couple is building a new waterfront house on the Sunset Islands.

Whitman’s father and the founder of the high-end shops, Stanley Whitman, died in March at 98. A week earlier, Bal Harbour Shops gained final village approval to nearly double in size, a $400 million expansion that could take up to eight years to complete.
