Movers & Shakers: Transwestern South Florida hires new VP & more

Compass Florida named new sales manager, Tomi Rose joined DE

Transwestern hired Bert Checa as vice president of the South Florida office. Checa was previously senior associate at Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors, Pointe Group and Holly Real Estate. At Transwestern, he’ll focus on office agency leasing and tenant advisory in the Southeast.

Jeff Polashuk joined Compass Florida as sales manager. Polashuk left Zillow, where he was a sales executive. He’ll manage Compass’ 150 Miami agents out of the Miami Beach office.

Tomi Rose left Opulence International Realty, which was just acquired by Brown Harris Stevens, for Douglas Elliman Florida’s sports and entertainment division. At Opulence, Rose was senior vice president of the sports and entertainment division.

Coral Gables Title + Escrow today hired Eileen Cala as a title processor. CEO Rodney Barreto and COO and attorney Richard L. Barbara launched the title company this summer.

Shawmut Design and Construction strengthened its business development division with two hires: Eric McLaughlin, director of business development in New York, and Francine Rodriguez, business development manager in Miami. Both will focus on Shawmut’s luxury homes division.

J. Michael Marshall joined Gunster as a shareholder in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office. He’s now part of the law firm’s environmental and land use practice.
