Brazilian developer moves forward on 445-key Brickell hotel
Galwan said to complete dual-branded Wyndham hotel by 2019
Brazilian developer Galwan is moving forward with its plans to build a hotel tower near Miami’s Mary Brickell Village.
Plans for the 445-room, 41-story tower at 88 Southwest 10th Street call for two Wyndham Hotel Group brands, a 200-room Wyndham Grand and a 245-key Tryp by Wyndham, according to a press release. Arquitectonica is designing the building, which is slated to open in late 2019.
It marks the first project in the U.S. for Galwan. Records show GW Brickell LLC paid $26 million for the development site in 2015.
The hotels will share a lobby and lounge space on the first floor, an eight-story parking garage, a pool deck, fitness center, and 8,000 square feet of meeting space. The building will also include a rooftop restaurant and bar, marking the second hotel in the area with a rooftop bar, after East, Miami, which opened in 2015 as part of Brickell City Centre.
Galwan’s site backs up to the Shops at Mary Brickell Village. Rockpoint Group paid $113.5 million for the outdoor shopping mall in 2015. The development features 196,000 square feet of retail space, 390 condos, 59 stores and 800 parking spaces.
