Developer Richard Siemens dies at 82

Siemens Group founder was working on Akoya Boca West

Florida developer Richard “Dick” Siemens died on Sunday at the age of 82, according to his family.

Siemens, president and CEO of the Siemens Group, founded the company in 1964 and led the development of more than 15,000 homes in over 20 communities since then. He was active in Boca Raton, where Siemens Group is building Akoya Boca West, a luxury condo building under construction at the Boca West Country Club.

Other Siemens Group developments include the Polo Club Boca Raton, Gleneagles Country Club and Harbour’s Edge.

Along with his business partners Roy Flack and Stanley Katz, Siemens donated land for The Richard and Carole Siemens Jewish Campus in west Boca. A prominent philanthropist, he and his wife, Carole, were involved in the Drug Abuse Foundation and developed the Siemens-Evert Campus in Delray Beach and the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County.

Siemens, who a family spokesperson said died of complications from a medical condition, is survived by his wife and their four children. His son, Scott B. Siemens, is executive vice president of the firm.

A memorial service is planned for Jan. 9 at Temple Beth El of Boca Raton.
