A Minnesota real estate firm plans to build a Margaritaville-branded resort in Fort Myers Beach.
TPI Hospitality of Willmar, Minnesota, expects to start building the 254-room resort in December and to finish construction in early 2021.
Tom Torgerson, chairman of TPI, announced Friday that his firm will develop the resort in partnership with Margaritaville Holdings, a lifestyle brand named after the song “Margaritaville” by recording artist Jimmy Buffett.
The town council of Fort Myers Beach last month approved a proposal by TPI to rezone the development site.
