Jacksonville industrial development would span 3 million square feet

A Kansas City, Missouri-based company plans to buy 156 acres in Jacksonville to build three million square feet of industrial space.

VanTrust Real Estate LLC expects to break ground next month and finish construction of the first building in September 2019.

The company expects to build three million square feet in three to six buildings at a Jacksonville industrial park.

John Carey, executive vice president of VanTrust, told the Jacksonville Daily Record that the company’s total investment in the project will top $180 million.

Carey also told the newspaper that VanTrust initially will develop the industrial space on a speculative basis without preleasing it.

VanTrust had been seeking an industrial development opportunity in northern Florida since the company opened its Jacksonville office in January 2016.

VanTrust has a contract to buy a 156-acre development site at the Imeson International Industrial Park off Interstate 95 in north Jacksonville.
