Billionaire developer Donald Soffer sells Palm Beach Gardens estate

Turnberry Associates founder Donald Soffer has sold his Palm Beach Gardens estate.

The Aventura-based billionaire developer and father of Jeffrey and Jackie Soffer, sold the home for $6.2 million to Tillinghast Holdings LLC, according to property records. The buyer is managed by Larry Ross.

The six-bedroom, 13,500-square-foot mansion is located at 12251 Tillinghast Circle.

Soffer paid $1.1 million for the lakefront property in 2004 and built the home in 2010, records show. It features a billiard room and bar, pool, motor court, tennis courts, and is in the Old Palm Golf Club community, which has an 18-hole Raymond Floyd-designed course. His neighbors include HUD Secretary Ben Carson and South African professional golfer Charl Adriaan Schwartzel.

Soffer listed the two-acre property in November for $9.9 million, and reduced the price earlier this year, according to Realtor.com. But it’s been on and off the market since at least 2013, when it was asking $15.5 million. The listing agent was Gary Pohrer of Douglas Elliman.

Soffer’s Turnberry Associates, which owns the Fontainebleau Miami Beach and majority interest in Aventura Mall, is also building a number of projects. Those include Turnberry Ocean Club in Sunny Isles Beach and SoLe Mia, a $4 billion mixed-use project that LeFrak is co-developing.
