The owners have remodeled, renamed and reopened two oceanfront hotels in Islamorada after buying them for $16.1 million just before Hurricane Irma crushed the Florida Keys.

Atlanta-based Songy Highroads, LLC, and Washington, D.C.-based Wardman Group spent $5 million to repair and remodel the hotels, which closed after a four-foot storm surge flooded them.

Hurricane Irma made landfall in the lower Florida Keys on September 10, 2017 – about six weeks after Songy and Wardman closed on their acquisition of the 37-room Days Inn & Suites in Islamorada for $8.8 million.

Songy and Wardman also bought the 37-room Harbor Lights hotel in Islamorada for $7.3 million about three months before Irma made landfall on Cudjoe Key at Mile Marker 20.

Harbor Lights is now known as Fisher Inn Resort & Marina, and the Days Inn is now called Hadley House Islamorada. Both are managed by Dallas-based Aimbridge Hospitality. [Miami Herald]Mike Seemuth
