A member of the family that founded General Motors paid $5.17 million for a waterfront home in Manalapan.

The trust of Ridgway Harding White bought a 8,677-square-foot house on Lands End Road for $595 per square foot. Gregory Oberting, president and CEO of Interstate Commodities, and his wife sold the property, records show.

The Oberting’s bought the house in 2015 for $4.1 million, property records show. It was built in 1998 and has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and two half-bathrooms.

White is the president and CEO of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, which supports nonprofits throughout Flint, Michigan.

White’s great-grandfather Charles Stewart Mott was the original U.S. partner of General Motors Corp. and was a two-time mayor of Flint, Michigan. He later went on to buy the company that became U.S. Sugar, which is now partly owned by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

Manalapan is one of the wealthiest towns in Palm Beach County. A number of celebrities and billionaires have bought homes in Manalapan including motivational guru Tony Robbins, New Age musician Yanni, boxing promoter Don King and Billy Joel.
