WeWork to open in Wynwood

Co-working space operator is taking 30K square feet on the top floor of the Wynwood Garage

WeWork is heading into Miami’s trendiest neighborhood.

The shared office operator, now known as the We Company, is taking about 30,000 square feet of creative office space on the top floor of Goldman Properties latest project, the Wynwood Garage, according to a building permit filed with the city of Miami.

The eight-story, 428-space garage at 301 Northwest 26th Street opened in November and is the first public garage in Wynwood. It was designed by San Francisco architect Thom Faulders and features a permanent mural by Tavar Zawack.

WeWork Wynwood, with space for about 550 members, is expected to open in August, according to a spokesperson.

The space marks the first for WeWork in Wynwood. In December, it announced it was opening its sixth South Florida location, at 255 Giralda Avenue in Coral Gables, this summer. There, WeWork is leasing more than 58,000 square feet for over 1,000 members.

Goldman financed construction of the mixed-use garage with a $22 million construction loan from Sabadell United Bank.

The development firm, often credited as the first major developer to invest in Wynwood, has other projects in the area. Last year, it filed plans for Punch Bowl Social’s first Florida location. The Denver-based arcade, karaoke bar and restaurant chain is leasing about 21,000 square feet of retail space at the Wynwood Garage, The Real Deal previously reported.

WeWork also has locations in Brickell, downtown Miami and Miami Beach, and is planning to open its second Brickell location at OKO Group’s future 830 Brickell project in 2021.
