UPDATED, Oct. 24, 11:15 a.m.: Sebring car dealer Alan Jay Wildstein has found a new spot, paying $6.5 million for a waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale.

Wildstein purchased a 7,752-square-foot house at 1500 Southeast 10th Street for $838 per square foot, records show. Thomas Group International, which is led by Joel Thomas of Orlando, sold the home.

Wildstein is the founder, president and CEO of Alan Jay Automotive Network. He opened the Maserati Alfa Romeo of St. Petersburg in 2016 and has 15 auto brands in Florida. In addition, he owns four Detroit dealerships that he purchased in 2018, according to Automotive News. The performing arts center in Sebring also bears his name.

The Modern West Indies-style home in Rio Vista Isles features 250 feet of water frontage. It has five bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms. Built in 2007, the property features a walk-in wine cellar and a four-car garage.

The home was last purchased for $4.35 million in 2013, records show.

Chad Carroll of Douglas Elliman was the listing agent for the property, according to Realtor.com. It was listed for $7.5 million in September. Tim Elmes of Compass represented the buyer.

This year, Fort Lauderdale has seen a slew of high-profile deals. In June, the founder of Pet Supermarket bought the Fort Lauderdale estate of the late H. Wayne Huizenga at 1575 Ponce de Leon Drive in Fort Lauderdale for $14.3 million.

In May, used car dealer Mark and Eileen Fisher paid $17.4 million – including the buyer’s premium – for the 27-room, 17,000-square-foot mansion at 534 Bontona Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
