Krinos Foods owner revealed as buyer of One Thousand Museum condos

The owner of one of the largest Greek food importers in North America is the buyer of two units at One Thousand Museum, property records show.

Eric Moscahlaidis, owner of Krinos Foods, paid about $13 million for units 5601 and 5602 in August through 1000 Museum 5601 LLC. Moscahlaidis’ identity was unknown at the time, but he recently signed a $5.5 million mortgage from HSBC Bank for the units.

Krinos, based in New York, imports and produces Greek and other Mediterannean foods including cheese, dips, olive oil, pastas, pickled vegetables and more. The company was founded in the 1980s by Eric’s father, John Moschalaidis. In addition to other brands it owns, Krinos acquired Hellas International in 2004.

Eric Moscahlaidis likely purchased a combined unit at the downtown Miami condo tower.

The development group, which includes Louis Birdman, Gilberto Bomeny, Gregg Covin, Kevin Venger and Todd Michael Glaser, sold units 5601 and 5602 to Moscahlaidis.

The late Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid designed the 62-story, 84-unit luxury tower at 1000 Biscayne Boulevard. She died in 2016, before it was completed earlier this year.

The building, Hadid’s first and final residential project in the western hemisphere, is known for its exoskeleton, which incorporates 4,800 precast panels made in Dubai and shipped to Miami. The building features a rooftop helipad; wellness center with a gym and yoga facilities; relaxation pods and spa rooms; sky lounge; bank vault; multimedia theater; off-site beach club and a juice bar.

One floor below Moscahlaidis, Jana Sobotova and Petr Lukes, a pair of entrepreneurs and real estate investors from the Czech Republic, paid $17 million for units 5501 and 5502.
