The founder of the popular South Beach Diet is slimming down.

Dr. Arthur Agatston and his wife, Sari Agatston, sold their waterfront mansion at 1633 North View Drive in Miami Beach for $15.5 million, property records show. The buyer is not yet known.

The 9,850-square-foot, six-bedroom house hit the market in 2017 for $23 million, and was relisted with Jill Hertzberg of The Jills Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker the following year. It was most recently asking $16.9 million, according to Zillow.

The two-story house has seven full bathrooms, three half-bathrooms, marble and wood floors, a chef’s kitchen, master suite, library, two-car garage and separate guest house. The estate sits on a nearly 26,000-square-foot lot with 116 feet of water frontage on Sunset Island 1.

The cardiologist and his wife paid $4.2 million for the property in 2005. The house was built in 2009.

The South Beach Diet was a popular fad diet in the early- to mid-2000s, and gained a following after Agatston published his eponymous 2003 book. Since then, he’s published a number of books and cookbooks. The South Beach Diet also sells a line of packaged foods.

In 2018, the developer of the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Miami Beach announced it was partnering with Agatston to offer buyers a yearlong membership to a medical concierge service. The amenity, which the developer said is valued at $12,000 a year, offers households access to concierge physicians, full physical exams, a personalized health plan using Agatston’s platform, video consultations and remote monitoring.
