The go-to lawyer in South Florida for fighting traffic tickets sold his Boca Raton house at 8765 Horseshoe Lane for $7.5 million.

Mark S. Gold, who founded The Ticket Clinic, sold his 7,461-square-foot house for $1,005 per square foot, records show. Healthcare billionaire David Cotton, the former owner, chairman and CEO of Meridian Health Plans, bought the home.

Meridian Health Plans grew to become the largest private provider of Medicaid benefits in Michigan and Illinois, according to Bloomberg. Cotton sold the company to WellCare Health Plans in 2018 for $2.5 billion.

The Boca Raton property spans 7.5 acres.

The home has six bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms. The gated house overlooks a lake with a separate guest house. The foyer opens to the gallery, leading to the living room, family room and dining room, featuring a glass elevator and glass staircase, according to the listing on Realtor.com. The property also features a separate cabana bath by the pool.

Designed by Pepe Calderin, the home was built in 2019. Gold purchased the land in Boca Raton for $2.75 million in 2015, records show.

Gold lists his address as Puerto Rico, but billboards and advertisements for The Ticket Clinic can be seen throughout South Florida. He fights traffic offenses, including DUIs and suspended licenses. The Ticket Clinic’s website boasts that Gold “has defended thousands of DUI cases.” He has been credited as one of the first lawyers to make money off DUIs and traffic tickets, according to the MIami New Times.
