Consumer conglomerate CEO buys condo at One Thousand Museum

UPDATED, Jan. 22, 12:10 p.m.: The president and CEO of Newell Brands – which includes household names like Rubbermaid, PaperMate and Yankee Candle – paid $6 million for a condo at the Zaha Hadid-designed One Thousand Museum in downtown Miami.

That’s the equivalent of about 3.6 million Sharpie markers, which Newell Brands also owns.

Property records show Ravichandra Saligram, who heads the consumer goods company, and his wife, Nalini Saligram, closed on unit 4202 at 1000 Biscayne Boulevard. Nalini heads a nonprofit that focuses on chronic diseases, according to her LinkedIn. Ravichandra became president and CEO of Newell Brands in October. He previously led OfficeMax through its sale to Office Depot. The Wall Street Journal first reported on the Saligrams’ unit purchase.

The Saligrams join a list of buyers at One Thousand Museum, a 62-story, 84-unit tower that was recently completed by developers Louis Birdman, Gilberto Bomeny, Gregg Covin, Kevin Venger and Todd Michael Glaser. Italian investor Francesco Rovati paid $6.3 million for unit 2501; thoracic surgeon Dr. Moses Degraft-Johnson paid $5.65 million for unit 1902; and W. Bruce Lunsford, a Kentucky nursing home magnate and former U.S. Senate candidate, paid $6.3 million for unit 3601.

Harvey Daniels of One Sotheby’s International Realty is the sales director. Half-floor units started at $5.8 million and full-floor residences go up to more than $24 million. The building features a rooftop helipad, a wellness center with a gym and yoga facilities, relaxation pods and spa rooms, a sky lounge, a bank vault, a multimedia theater, an off-site beach club and a juice bar.
