A new Publix-anchored shopping center will be coming to the tiny Village of Golf in Palm Beach County as part of a master-planned development.

Stiles, one of the largest commercial developers in Fort Lauderdale, paid $6.85 million for a 19-acre parcel at the intersection of Military Trail and Woolbright Road. The developer plans to build an 83,615-square-foot retail center and a 46,811-square-foot Publix Super Markets store. The Blunt family of Palm Beach sold the property, after owning the land since 1960, according to a release.

The retail center is a part of a 36-acre master planned project that will include self-storage, office flex space, retail and restaurants. The project will be developed by Stiles and Boynton Beach-based Mack Industrial Inc.

The Village of Golf has a population of under 300 people and was incorporated in 1957.

Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter, and Publix is expected to open in 2021.

Publix-anchored shopping centers are highly valued by real estate investors because the popular grocery store chain brings consistent traffic. Over the past few years, Publix has been buying up retail centers to become its own landlord.
