Medical device CEO snags condo at Residences by Armani/Casa

The sale marks one of the first closings at the new luxury development

The CEO of a medical device company snagged a unit at Residences by Armani/Casa in Sunny Isles Beach for $6 million, marking one of the first closings at the new luxury development.

Bryan C. Hanson and his wife Amanda Hanson purchased unit 5400 at the 308-unit condo tower at 18975 Collins Avenue. The development group sold the unit, records show.

Hanson was appointed CEO of Zimmer Biomet in December 2017. The company makes orthopedic reconstruction products and dental implants. Prior to joining Zimmer Biomet, Hanson was the executive vice president and group president of the Minimally Invasive Therapies Group at Medtronic, where he oversaw a $9 billion business.

Residences by Armani/Casa was developed in a joint venture between Dezer Development, the Related Group and the Armani Group. It is the first Armani/Casa-branded building in the United States. In December, the tower scored its temporary certificate of occupancy.

At that time, developer Gil Dezer said the project had presold about 270 units or 87 percent of the units.

The tower was designed by César Pelli, the internationally known architect who created the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami.

Units range in size from 1,350 square feet to 4,700 square feet. Condos are priced from $1.6 million to more than $17 million for the Giorgio Armani-furnished penthouse that comes with a trip to Italy to meet Armani.

The developers broke ground in 2016 and secured a $305 million construction loan from Wells Fargo and the Blackstone Group. That year, the project also opened a $10 million sales center.
