Artificial heart designer snags North Palm Beach estate for $9M
The home has a 1,000-bottle air-conditioned wine room
The engineer who helped design one of the first artificial hearts bought an estate in North Palm Beach’s Seminole Landing for $8.65 million.
Lance Young and his wife Lynn purchased the 10,814-square-foot estate at 12314 Plantation Lane for $800 per square foot, according to a press release. Bob and Robin Martin sold the home. Bob Martin is the owner of the interior design firm Decorators Unlimited,
Lance Young is a California-based engineer who helped design one of the first artificial hearts. Former Vice President Dick Cheney was one of the beneficiaries of Young’s work, according to the release.
Vince Marotta at Illustrated Properties represented the sellers in the deal. Kathleen Manfredi of the Kathy Courtney Realty Group represented the buyers.
The property last sold for $1.7 million in 2004, records show. The home was built in 2007.
The sale represents the most expensive sale in Seminole Landing in seven years, according to the release.
The property spans 1.23 acres with 375 feet of deep water frontage and 80 feet of dock space. The home features six bathrooms and two half-bathrooms, a heated swimming pool and spa, an elevator, a 1,000-bottle air-conditioned wine room, a seven-car garage and private beach access.
The village of North Palm Beach’s luxury residential market has seen some big sales in recent years. It is also home to Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. In March, the co-founder of private equity firm Bain Capital bought a waterfront North Palm Beach estate at 11087 Old Harbour Road for $16.8 million or $2,134 per square foot.
