Financier and cosmetics CEO buy Gables Estates mansion for $14M

A CEO couple bought a Gables Estates mansion for $13.6 million.

Records show married couple Andre Hakkak and Marissa Shipman bought the house at 8950 Arvida Drive in Coral Gables from Cimex Invest Inc., a Czech Republic-based investment company led by Jana Sobotova.

Hakkak is the CEO and co-founder of White Oak Global Advisors, a global investment firm founded in 2007, with offices all over the U.S. and internationally, according to its website. His wife, Shipman, is the founder and CEO of cosmetics company theBalm Cosmetics, based in Reno, Nevada. She founded the company in 2004.

Marily Vazquez Prol of Modern World Realty represented the buyers, while Saddy Delgado of One Sotheby’s International Realty represented the sellers.

Records show Cimex Invest bought the 17,215-square-foot mansion in 2016, the same year it was built, for $12 million. It was listed in 2018 for $17.5 million.

Last year, Sobotova, along with Petr Lukes, paid $17 million for two condos at One Thousand Museum, the downtown Miami condo tower designed by the late Zaha Hadid.

The two-story Coral Gables mansion has six bedrooms, nine full bathrooms, two half-bathrooms and sits on a nearly two-acre lot with a large backyard. Designed by architect Cesar Molina, the home also includes a six-car garage, an elevator, a pool and a separate structure with room for a gym or spa.

Some recent Gables Estates sales have been even pricier than this one. Cruise line leader Howard Frank sold his Gables Estates mansion for $20 million, and the head of Columbus Capital Lending sold his waterfront Gables Estates home for $33 million.
