Moving off the ice: Retired hockey player Brad Richards drops $8M on North Palm Beach home

Retired hockey player Brad Richards dropped $8.1 million on a lakefront home in North Palm Beach.

Richards and his wife, Rechelle, bought the home at 11975 Lost Tree Way from William D. Edwards, individually and as trustee of The Knox-Main Trust, according to records.

Richards is a Canadian hockey player who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he won one of his two Stanley Cup trophies before retiring in 2016. According to an article from The Middletown Press, Richards listed his home in Greenwich, Connecticut for $9 million in 2020.

Palm Beach County records show Edwards, as trustee of the same trust, bought a nearby home at 11775 Lost Tree Way for $9 million at the end of March. Edwards is an attorney at Tennessee-based Long, Ragsdale & Waters, P.C.

He had purchased the recently sold home in 2019 for $7.2 million, records show.

James Kenny with K2 Realty represented both sides in the latest deal. He declined to provide any information about the seller.

The 4,696-square-foot house was built in 2004 and has four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. The property also includes a pool, dock and direct access to Little Lake Worth.

This year, North Palm Beach has been the site of pricey, high-profile deals. Billionaire Larry Ellison bought an estate, with plans to demolish the existing buildings, for $80 million. The CEO of Visa spent $7.9 million on a home. And late coal billionaire Christopher Cline sold his second mansion for $22.1 million.
