Port of Miami set to mark halfway point of tunnel-boring process

The Port of Miami will reach the half-way point of its tunnel boring project July 31, according to Miami-Dade County. The project’s tunnel boring machine will break through the port’s Dodge Island, the first of two tunnel tubes to be completed. The PortMiami (as it’s now known) tunnel plan is a public-private partnership between the Miami Access Tunnel, FDOT, Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami. The port’s concomitant dredging plan could soon get a boost following an announcement earlier this month from the White House. — Alexander Britell
