New website will track SoFla condo projects

A new website launched today by Miami-based Condo Vultures consulting firm is tracking new condo projects in South Florida.

The website, Cranespotters.com, compares the 146 towers already on the drawing board by some 200 metrics, including financing arrangements, prices and building contractors. Condo Vultures head Peter Zalewski told The Real Deal that the number of developments will jump in October after the region’s pre-construction boom kicks off.

The website relies on information provided by brokers and developers, as well as documents filed with  planning and zoning departments and the Miami Association of Realtors, whose members can access the database for free, Zalewski said. For everyone else, Zalewski plans to charge $1,000 per month.

“This is good for us, too, because we can find out what the competition’s doing,” said Alicia Cervera, managing director of Cervera Real Estate.

Cervera, however, questioned whether Cranespotters.com includes the context needed to decipher so many numbers.Emily Schmall
