Dania Beach-based Dacar Management received approval this week from the Hollywood Planning & Zoning Board to erect an 180,000-square-foot Walmart.

The long-vacant site at Hollywood Boulevard and State Road 7 is best known as the former Millennium Mall, which shuttered in 2005. Before that, it was known as the Hollywood Fashion Center, also a shopping mall, up until the early 1990s, the Miami Herald reported.

Dacar acquired the land in 2009 and plans to break ground next year, with the hope of opening a Walmart hiring center by spring 2015. The store is slated to have a staff of 300 and open by summer 2015.

Last month, Walmart grabbed 41,000 square feet at Palmetto Gardens Plaza in Miami Gardens, as previously reported. [Miami Herald]Mark Maurer
