A new restaurant is joining Miracle Mile, The Real Deal has learned.

Matsuri Japanese Sushi Restaurant signed a seven-year lease at 230 Miracle Mile and will replace 100 Montaditos, Terranova Corp. told TRD.

The Japanese eatery will occupy 2,840 square feet and will include a revolving sushi bar. The Miracle Mile restaurant marks the first U.S. location for Matsuri. An unaffiliated Matsuri already exists in South Miami.

“Matsuri will benefit not only from the residents, but the high number of working professionals looking for a quick bite to eat or a cocktail during Coral Gables trendy happy hour scene,” Mindy McIlroy, Terranova executive vice president, said in a press release. “Having Matsuri at the epicenter of Miracle Mile, just off Ponce de Leon Boulevard, visitors and residents will have a unique alternative to the traditional restaurants found in downtown Coral Gables.”

McIlroy represented the landlord in the deal. The restaurant is slated to open later this year.

In August, Coral Gables city commissioners approved $19 million for streetscape improvements to Miracle Mile and Giralda Avenue in downtown Coral Gables. Wider sidewalks, public art displays, open plazas and cosmetic upgrades to the streets are among the planned upgrades. — Katherine Kallergis
