TRD insider interview: Nitin Motwani talks shop about Miami Worldcenter

After participating in a candid panel about Miami’s hottest up-and-coming neighborhoods, developer Nitin Motwani sat down with The Real Deal New York’s managing web editor Hiten Samtani to give an update on the massive Miami Worldcenter development and talk about his hopes for the project.

He said demolition is complete at the nearly 30-acre site, located in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood, and groundbreaking is set to begin before the end of 2015.

When open in 2018, the mixed-use development will have a 765,000-square-foot retail center, the 500-unit Paramount Miami Worldcenter condo tower, an 1,800-room Marriott Marquis hotel and convention center, and a rental tower with 429 units developed by Orlando-based ZOM.

Motwani was a member of the “surveying Miami’s top neighborhoods” panel at TRD South Florida’s Forum & Showcase, where top developers revealed how they helped shape areas like Wynwood and the Design District.

The showcase, held on Oct. 15 at the Moore Building in Miami’s Design District, drew more than 4,000 real estate professionals who came to network and peek at South Florida’s latest developments. The event also held three panels: key players talked about their role in building Miami’s hottest neighborhoods, New York power brokers revealed their love for Miami, and top developers forecast the city’s future real estate market. — Sean Stewart-Muniz
