Pebb Enterprises principals, employees killed in plane crash

Last updated, 10:45 p.m., Nov. 11: Two principals and five employees of Boca Raton-based Pebb Enterprises were among those killed in a jet crash in Akron, Ohio on Tuesday.

Jared Weiner, a Pebb principal, was killed in the crash, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Tuesday evening.

All nine people on board a Hawker H25, including two crew members, were killed, according to NBC News. Pebb confirmed in a statement that two principals and five employees were killed but did not identify the victims. They were reportedly on a trip scouting properties to buy when the small plane crashed into the apartment complex in Akron on Tuesday afternoon. 

Pebb, a family owned and operated commercial property management firm active in Palm Beach County, issued the following statement:

“Our hearts are broken this morning with the news of the tragic accident that took the lives of two principals and five employees of Pebb Enterprises. We are shocked and deeply saddened for the families, colleagues and friends of those who perished. Our first priority is to give our fullest support to the family members and loved ones of our co-workers. …”

Diane Smoot, director of lease administration and property accounting, was identified by her sister as one of the victims, NBC News reported. Jared Weiner was head of the company’s growth and development activities.

No one was injured on the ground. The group flew on Monday from Florida to Minnesota, then Iowa to Missouri and then to Cincinnati. On Tuesday, they flew to Dayton before the crash. The cause of the crash has not been determined, according to NBC News.
