Since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, the hospitality industry has been in free-fall. New York’s restaurants have only been open for delivery since March 17 following a mandate from Mayor Bill de Blasio, which followed in the footprints of California, Illinois, Ohio and other states and has since spread to many other major cities and states. With dramatically decreased operations, many bar and restaurant owners were left wondering how to go on, as even with a moratorium on evictions, there are still mortgages and bills to pay. And although many fear a wave of closings as restaurants slow down so much that they are unable to restart, Kamali and more than 250 restaurant owners have united to call for financial relief from the real estate industry under the mantle of The Restaurant Network.
