Manhattan saw its best year in 2014 for investment sales, with 5,197 properties sold, surpassing the previous all-time high of 5,018 in 2007. Sales in New York City were up 45 percent year-over-year to $55.8 billion, and the tremendous increase in dollar volume resulted in an average square foot price exceeding $1,400. The outer boroughs also reached record breaking levels in 2014. Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx had combined sales of $15.1 billion, more than $5 billion from the previous record set in 2007.
