AECOM Capital is a private equity firm with a focus on real estate. Founded in 2013 as the investment arm of AECOM, the firm has since taken an active investment approach in both the United States and United Kingdom, focusing primarily on gateway cities in both countries. Such investments are the Town & Country Resort in San Diego, Jersey Citys luxury apartment building Provost Square, and mixed-use building Union Place in Washington, D.C. It also took on the troubled $1 billion mixed-use urban development Flushing Commons in Queens, expected to be the largest commercial-condo project in the outer boroughs in 2015. The project is also expected to be hugely transformational for the Flushing neighborhood, despite stalled development during the first phase. AECOM Capital hasnt attempted to openly challenge the larger private equity real estate funds like Blackstone, instead attempting to hook one or two large institutional investors.
