The Albanese Organization is a full-service real estate firm with residential and commercial holdings. The firm was founded in 1949 and has grown steadily in the decades since. In the 1960s founder Anthony Albanese expanded the business into Long Island and in the 1970s began developing apartment buildings in Manhattan and commercial spaces on Long Island. The firm also has operated in Westchester County, redeveloping New Rochelle with new residential and retail space in 2012, and a commercial building in the Czech Republic. In 2014 the organization sold a Garment District office building at 320 West 37th Street for $36 million, more than double the $15 million it paid for the property two years earlier. The firm has had three luxury residential high-rise apartment buildings in Battery Park City, and during Hurricane Sandy they all escaped any major damage. The firm, which prides itself on its LEEDs certifications, has won several sustainability awards over the years.
