Anbau Enterprises is a husband-and-wife real estate development firm known for building high-end residential properties. It was founded in 1998 and has been active in most areas of New York City since its inception, with founder Stephen Glascock handling acquisition and finance and Barbara van Beuren the design and marketing. Anbau, which derives its name from the German for "to add onto," has developed a niche in property conversions. In 2011, Anbau purchased a parking lot near Madison Square Park for $18.5 million and then built a 22-story condo building using designs from a defunct hotel project. Anbau has also converted warehouses into condo buildings, such as the 10-story residential building at 136 West 22nd Street. It also converted 110 Central Park South into a luxury condo building. The firm has recently eschewed ultra-luxury developmentavoiding glass exteriors and add-on amenities to focus on sellable units.
