Benenson Capital Partners is a family-owned real estate investment and development company. One of the oldest firms in the country, Benenson was formed in the early 20th century by Russian immigrant carpenter Benjamin Benenson, and the firm steadily grew to become one of the more prolific dealmakers in the 1940s. Among the notable Manhattan buildings the firm has developed are the old U.S. Post Office location at 432 East 14th Street (the post office vacated in 2014), Connaught Towers on the Upper East Side, and Chelsea Gardens on 223 West 23rd Street. The firm has also purchased a slew of shopping centers and office space across the country, such as its long-term interest in the 71-acre Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers (which it renovated in 2014), and hotels, such as the Willard in Washington, D.C. All told the firm has roughly 140 properties in 27 states, with a particular focus in recent years on the East Coast. In 2003, the firm formed Benenson Capital Partners, which served as its management arm, further expanding the companys reach.
