    Clarion Partners is a real estate investment manager with a distinct mark on the New York City market. It boasts more than 200 institutional investors worldwide and more than $56 billion in assets under management, but also owns a number of marquee hotels and apartment buildings in Boston, Palm Beach, and elsewhere.

    Founded in 1982 by Stephen Furnary and John Weisz, Clarion sold off a piece of its business to Jones Lang almost immediately. Thirteen years later, Clarions management bought back that interest and was independent. However, in 1998 the firm was then sold to ING in a bid to raise offshore capital. After the financial crisis began to take hold, Clarion's management again sought independence and spun off from ING in 2011.
