Douglas Elliman is a residential real estate brokerage firm in the New York City area and one of the largest in the United States. The firm in its current incarnation dates from 2003, when Dottie Herman, then owner of Prudential Long Island Realty, bought Douglas Elliman with her business partner Howard Lorber, the firm's current chairman. The firm, controlled by Lorber's publicly traded Vector Group, has 22 offices in the city, including its headquarters at 575 Madison Avenue. Some of the firm's subsidiaries include Douglas Elliman Property Management, title insurer PDE Title and DE Capital Mortgage. DE Development Marketing handles sales for new high-end condominiums, including the Residences at the Mandarin Oriental, the condos at the Time Warner Center, and 173 and 176 Perry Street in the West Village. Douglas Elliman sponsors a quarterly housing-market report developed and written by the appraiser Jonathan Miller.
