The Durst Organization is a New York City-based, family-run commercial and residential real estate development company. It was founded in the early 20th century by former garment manufacturer Joseph Durst, who immigrated to the United States from the part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire that is present day Poland. His two of his grandchildren, Jody and Douglas Durst, are the companys principals, having taken over the company from their father, Seymour. Since the 1950s, the Durst Organizations business model is based on assembling building sites, completing buildings, and then holding them. The Condé Nast building at 4 Times Square, completed in 2000, is one of the companys development projects and remains it its portfolio. Another project is One Bryant Park, the Bank of America Tower, completed in 2010. -GB
