Feil Organization is family-owned, New York City-based real estate investment, development, and management firm. The firm, founded in the 1950s, owns, develops, and manages 26 million square feet of retail, commercial, and industrial property, 5,000 residential rental units, and thousands of acres of undeveloped land across the United States. In 2013, the Feil portfolio was estimated at $7 billion. Its New York City properties include the Fred F. French Building at 551 Fifth Avenue and the General Electric Building at 570 Lexington Avenue. The four children of the companys late founder, Louis Feil, are Jeffrey Feil, Marilyn Barry, Judith Jaffe, and Carole Feil. Each controls a 25% stake in the company. Jeffrey took over as chief executive officer in 1988, following his fathers retirement. Louis Feil died in 1999. As of January 2014, the siblings were embroiled in multiple court cases in New York and Louisiana over their inheritance. The value of Feil Organization portfolio ballooned in the years after 1999, especially in the post-Lehman recovery, as Jeffrey used the collapse in property prices in the wake of the credit crisis to go on a buying spree.
