Gotham Organization is a privately-held, family-run, and New York City-based real estate development and management firm founded in 1913 by Nathan Picket, a carpenter by training. Its projects include upscale residential buildings in Manhattan and mix-use retail developments in New York City and Washington, DC. The firm, which operates 2.8 million square feet of residential and retail space, also provides real estate consulting services. As of 2015, Joel Picket, Nathans grandson, served as its chairman and chief executive, and David Picket, Joels son and Nathans great-grandson, served as president. Gothams conversion projects include the Renwick in the East Village and the former law school building of St. Johns University in Brooklyn. Projects that are more recent include the 1,240-unit Gotham West in Hells Kitchen and the 586-unit, 52-story mixed-income development planned for Brooklyns BAM Cultural District. MK

According to TRD’s research, the 351-unit 101 Bedford in Williamsburg has the most units of any rental project to launch in the past year. By contrast, the Domino Sugar redevelopment, developed by David Walentas’ Two Trees, which is expected to break ground next year, is slated to have a stunning 2,284 rentals (although 660 of them will be set aside as affordable).
