Hakimian Organization is a real estate development and management company established in 1970 by brothers Joe and Ben Hakimian, who had worked in the precious gems market before launching into real estate. With more than 30 ground-up construction projects in its resume, Hakimian has built residential towers, hotels, and corporate headquarters, including 186 West 4th Street, 19 East 79th Street, 23 Park Avenue, and the Sharre Tova Synagogue in Kew Gardens. In 2011 the firm expanded into investment sales, opening its own sales company. One of the firms largest developments in recent years is a 246-room hotel in Times Square on a lot the firm purchased in 2003. Hakimian purchased the lot, which has the landmarked Helen Hayes Theatre, and air space and plans to add 16 floors to the building. In 2014 Hakimian renovated the upscale bistro Dina Rata at the Andaz Wall Steet Hotel before turning to several residential projects in Long Island City. In 2016 the firm continued its push into Long Island City with a 99-year ground lease of a two-story warehouse in the neighborhood.
