Invesco (Atlanta) is an Atlanta, Georgia-based independent global investment management firm with on-the-ground presence in 20 countries. The company has a significant holdings in real estate, though its market focus (mainly industrial or commercial properties) depends on the city in which it trades. Its real estate subsidiary, which is based out of Dallas and was established in 1983, has more than $50 billion in real estate assets under management as of 2016. Invesco had long stayed away from New York City, but in 2011 it began participating in deals worth more than $2 billion, including a majority stake in the retail condominium of the former Knickerbocker Hotel, the Madison Belvedere at 10 East 29th Street, and the Elektra at 290 Third Avenue. In 2016 Invesco bought the majority share of an industrial portfolio in South Florida. The firm paid Eastern Group $98 million for the portfolio, which included properties in Miami Lakes and Doral.
